What You Should Know To Do Well In the Video Game Design Industry?

How to be a video game designer?
My boyfriend and I are almost graduating high school, and he wants to be a video game designer. He knows some C+, C++, Maya, some other programs, and photoshop pretty well, but he’s concerned about college.
We would both like to attend the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, but it’s probably too expensive.
We could attend a state university for very cheap, but we are both unsure about what he should major in to achieve his goals.
What are some regular university majors that could lead his way to video game design?
Possibly computer science, computer engineering?

More and more colleges have actual video game degrees available now. Check with your local state colleges and see what’s available.
DeVry offers several gaming degrees, but not all campuses offer them yet. Westwood College is known as a "gaming college" too.

Do i have to go to a vocatioanal college in order to become a video game designer?
I’ve been into video and online computer games for a long time im planning to take computer science classes and art class in high school in order to become a video game designer. But when i looked at the colleges there all vocational. I want to know if there are any universities i can go to, to become a video game designer i also want to be able to read computer language.
There are actually a couple of universities and colleges that I know of that offer degree programs in video game design. Devry University, for example, offers a bachelor’s degree in video game design that might be just what you are looking for. What is a good college in Indiana to be a video game designer, and what degree do i need?
Im 14 have finalized my choice to become a video game designer after college, the only problem is, I really dont know how to accomplish this. I know of several schools that you can get a bachelors degree in video game design but none of them really seem to be major schools that would appeal to a company to higher me. So im asking, what is a good college in the Indiana area for video game design?
You need to rethink your choice to be a video game designer. Such jobs are leaving the USA because they can be done by programmers in foreign countries for $3/hour. Degrees in "Video Game Design" have a poor reputation. Instead, get a degree in Computer Engineering Technology. Indian University—Purdue, in Indianapolis, has this BSCET degree.
