What are some of the schools in California that offer BS in Game Development?
I am in a junior college at the moment but i dont know what classes should i take to major in game development ( video game, MMO…) can anyone give me some advice? Thx alots
Don’t do it. You can easily get a job in the Video Game industry with a BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, but a Game Development degree is really only going to be valuable in that one industry.
Just go to a decent University, and take a couple of classes in the "interactive media" department on your way to getting the general CS degree.
John Carmack (you know who he is, right?) said:
"Game programs have been somewhat useful for finding employees, but we don’t actually think that the students are learning particularly valuable skills in the programs.
A CS or EE degree will almost certainly serve you better throughout your life than a game/media degree…"

How do you suggest a video game to a software/development company?
I have an idea for a video game, but I don’t know how to get it to the software companies… Does anyone know how you suggest games to the game companies?
find a software/development company.
Normally they would have a "contact us" link on their website and you could tell them your idea.
Origin of the Video Poker Game
Video poker is part video game, part poker. It is one of the newest developments in modern gambling and slowly and surely is becoming something of a sensation. The video poker machines used today are the epitome of high tech gambling, but these machines have been used for about two hundred years, albeit in a much simpler form.
The poker game went through various stages of evolution and saw its manifestation into different types of games through generations of technological improvements. The game of video poker is based on the card game of poker, which has been an old American favorite and has been played since the early 1880s. According to historical accounts, the name ‘Poker’ was given by a man called Jonathan Green in 1834.
Video poker entered the casinos during the first oil crisis. The oil embargo fueled the Las Vegas mavens’ to stoke the dying embers. The perfect prescription proved to be video poker, with hoards of gamblers flocking the casinos to be a part of the latest rage and this in turn revitalized the flagging fortunes of Las Vegas. The popularity of the machine was propped up the familiar looking machine. Players could understand the machine by just consulting the payout table, with the machines prompting the players by alerting them to winning hands. It was increasing seen that anyone with a history of gin rummy of go fish was flocking to the video poker machines.
Video poker further cemented its place when The International Game Technology launched Draw Poker in 1979. Thus, the 1980s saw video poker becoming increasingly popular in casinos as the thought of playing on machine was less intimidating than playing table games. Not only does video poker now enjoy a prominent place among the gaming floors of many casinos but is especially popular amongst Las Vegas locals, who are the patrons of local casinos off the Las Vegas strip which offer much better odds or machines of lower denominations.
Today everybody is affected by poker mania, which has been further accentuated by the Texas Hold’em craze. The popularity of the game has increase to such an extent that everybody want a piece of poker action in any way they can. The latest evolutions in the world of video poker are the unlimited tournaments that are televised ay and night.
New machines are daily entering casinos and some of the newer machines are, Poker Frenzy, Double Bonus Poker, Joker’s Wild, and Bonus Poker. Moreover, today’s poker machines enable the poker players to play as high as 100 hands simultaneously, so more enjoyment for the enthusiasts.
Over the years, the game has seen numerous changes and all for the better. Creative minds are constantly thinking up variation to please players. Most of the video poker players expect phenomenal returns and in the end development of the game might just depend on who is greedier, the casino, or the players. However, rest assured there is every chance that you will be continued to offer the video poker experience for centuries to come.

Are there any new video game consoles in development?
Is Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, or any other company developing a new video console due out soon? I’m thinking about purchasing a PS3 with my new HDTV soon, but I’m willing to pass up the PS3 if someone will release another blurray enabled console. Opinions welcome.
I’m sure they’re all working on new consoles, but I remember reading a quote last year saying that the current consoles will probably be supported through 2012.
In any case I don’t believe any new consoles have been announced yet so there won’t be anything new for a few years.

Do I have a good chance at getting a job in video game development or animation/film animation?
I’m currently attending Rogers State University in Oklahoma; or will be. I’m enrolled and taking my basics atm. I’m spearheading my degrees toward my BFA in Visual Arts with an option in Multimedia since it’s where the animation is that I want. And a BS in Game Development; newly implemented. With these degrees on hand, would I stand a chance at getting in the door at a video game company or maybe even a 3D animation company like Dreamworks or Pixar? I’m planning on trying to intern at a game company in Tulsa so I can at least get some experience.

It sounds like with that kind of experience you would have a good chance. But remember there will be a lot of other people looking for the same jobs so you will want your portfolio to look good. You should save all of your class projects that you are especially proud of. You will have to be impressive over other candidates to get a job like that. But you are going along the right track so keep going, work hard and impress them with your knowledge and artistic ability.
X-Box Video Game
I recently received a bonus at work for hitting a sales quota, so I decided to buy something fun for my family. After giving the matter a lot of thought, I decided to purchase a new X box video game system to replace our outdated PlayStation.
Our family likes to play different types of games together, and we had gotten countless hours of fun and entertainment from that PlayStation. I hoped that buying an X box video game system would allow us to continue our weekly Family Night tradition in style.
I had heard plenty of positive comments about the X box video game platform from friends and co-workers. They absolutely raved about the amazingly detailed graphics and the wide selection of games to choose from.
My family appreciates variety, so the large number X-box video game titles currently available on the market and in development was a big factor in my final decision. Plus, I liked the fact that we would be able to download and play a demo version of nearly any X-box video game we were interested in before actually buying it. This feature would almost certainly end up saving us money at some point because we often change our mind about particular titles after we play them for a few hours.
Even after I had made up my mind to buy an X-box video game system, I didn’t just head out to the mall and grab one off the shelf. Whenever I’m about to make a rather expensive purchase such as this, I always do an exhaustive amount of comparison shopping. I think any cost savings would be worth the extra time I take, especially with something as pricey as an X-box video game unit. So I checked out a few different shopping-related websites on the Internet that had very good pricing resources.
I was able to discover exactly which sites had the X-box video game model that I wanted and what prices they were charging. In this way, I was able to compare prices, shipping rates, and availability all in one place, which helped me make an informed purchasing decision.
We’ve had our Xbox video game system for a few weeks now and we couldn’t be happier with it! Our family nights are definitely the most popular time of the week these days because we just can’t wait to challenge each other to the various games that we’ve already bought. I know I made the right decision by purchasing an Xbox video game unit for my family.

What is a good degree for becoming a video game producer?
I currently have a bachelor’s degree in business management. After spending some time in world of business I have quickly found it’s just not for me. I have always thought it would be lots of fun to get into video game development. Obviously I need some experience in the technical side of game development. I see lots of openings for level designer, artists, and programmers. I think I would honestly be about equal at all of these positions. What would be the best degree to get one of these jobs and which one would translate best to eventually doing production?
Probably computer science or computer programming.
If you want to be a game designer, a degree in the fine arts would be good.
Or you can go to one of those gaming schools.
What programming languages are need for video game development?
I want to create a video game using Source SDK as the engine, with the engine out of the way, what languages should my team and I learn?
That depends on how well you know programming itself, and how well you know object oriented programming. (Learning languages isn’t learning programming.)
How can you find video game companies near me?
I want to look into getting into the video game development field. What do I search in google maps to find a video game software company near me? Also what is the difference between rockstar and rockstar north? Red Storm entertainment and Ubi Soft? Do they both do game development? Bethesda Softworks is close to where I live.
Try searching for a company on google earth.
