Yes, but I’ve heard that it’s really not a fun job, at all. And, you don’t start out testing anything interesting, so be prepared for it to be not what you expect.

As a starter, they don’t make a lot of money from what i read-like $10-$12/hr A lot of times they can end up working late hours, and as the intended launch date draws nearer, there’s this "crunch time" where they work very long hours to look for any bugs on a game.

Though one doesn’t necessarily need a specific kind of degree to be a tester, from what i read, it’s beneficial to have a knowledge of coding, as you can specify what exactly is going on with a certain bug in the game. Also, though you don’t have to be the best gamer out there, per se, the more experience and skill you have, it seems to be the better. You also need *a lot* of patience for it.

Due to the amount of hours a tester can end up working, it’s been said that testers get burned out and don’t last long. However, it’s a good stepping stone / foot in the door towards advancement-and a lot of testers do that. As a tester progresses towards a higher position, then they make some good money.
