What does it take to become a video game designer?

I want to become a video game graphics designer when I grow up. I’m 14 right now and in 9th grade. I was just wondering was sorta high school classes I could take and how much they make, just basically everything you know about it. Thanks a bunch and your help would be much appreciated.

I’ll add to this to look at your favorite games..who makes them? Look them up on the web and see what positions they are hiring for and what their requirements are – granted things will change each year but it will give you an IDEA of what is going on in the field.

Finally, if you are feeling bold, contact the company and see if they will connect you with a designer who is willing to offer a little guidance – it’s generally a cool bunch of people so you might score some great help.
